Owensboro, Kentucky — Friday delivered a full day of Grind Session basketball as eight matchups unfolded inside the Owensboro Sportscenter. From ranked national programs and international talent to local high-school showcases, fans were treated to drama, highlight moments, and standout performances.

Here’s a game-by-game look at Friday’s action:

Game 1 — Ft. Erie (Women) 71, ABC Prep 52

The day opened with a commanding performance from Canada’s Ft. Erie women, who controlled the tempo for four quarters. Lisa Sirgi was dominant, posting 20 points and 10 rebounds in a balanced two-way effort.

Despite the setback, freshman sensation Tink Gary shined again for ABC Prep, pouring in a game-high 23 points and continuing to establish herself as one of the brightest young bigs on the circuit.

Game 2 — Example Academy 78, Hamilton Heights 76 (women)

The second matchup became an instant Owensboro thriller. Example Academy edged Hamilton Heights 78–76 behind a monster outing from Marlee-Michelle Coleman, who posted 29 points and 14 rebounds.

Teammate Shania James added 18 points and 7 assists in the win.

Hamilton Heights stayed within striking distance thanks to Kamora Moore, who lit it up from deep — 29 points including 5-for-9 from three — but their comeback fell just short.

Game 3 — Academy of Central Florida 90, Hamilton Heights 51

Central Florida wasted no time, opening the first quarter with a decisive 28–11 surge before cruising to a 90–51 victory.

Martay Barnes

Junior guard Martay Barnes controlled the game with 23 points and 5 assists, pacing the attack with confidence and pace.

Hamilton Heights was led by a trio of players with 9 points each — Asa Wood, BJ Bradford, and Cheick Coulibaly.

Game 4 — Briarcrest 76, Wesley Christian 57 (Local Showcase Game)

In a game played under Kentucky high-school rules, Briarcrest took down Wesley Christian 76–57.
The matchup was not an official Grind Session contest but drew strong local interest from the Friday crowd.

Game 5 — SEPA 96, Gillion Academy 84

A nationally ranked showdown lived up to its billing.

Gillion Academy and SEPA — both ESPN Top-25 programs — traded blows early before SEPA took control with a fast-paced second quarter surge.

Beckham Black

Star point guard Beckham Black orchestrated the attack, pushing tempo and stretching the floor to help SEPA build an 11-point buffer they held late to secure a 96–84 win.

Game 6 — Ft. Erie 72, Winston-Salem Christian 71

One of the wildest games of the day featured 64 combined fouls and momentum swings on nearly every possession.

Ft. Erie held off Winston-Salem Christian down the stretch for a dramatic 72–71 win.

Eli Jolin

Winston-Salem’s Kenyon St. Louis nearly posted a monster double-double — 24 points and 9 rebounds — but his effort wasn’t quite enough to steal the victory.

Game 7 — Albuquerque Prep 75, Daviess County 69

In a Grind Session vs. Kentucky local showcase, the Owensboro-area fans rallied behind Daviess County as they battled hard from start to finish.

But ABC Prep surged late, scoring 26 fourth-quarter points to escape with a 75–69 victory — despite playing without a shot clock under local rule format.

Daviess County star Jonathan Moss thrilled the crowd with 30 points, continuing to show why he is college-bound next season at Chattanooga.

Game 8 — Prolific Prep 78, iSchool 47

The defending three-time Grind Session champions, Prolific Prep, closed the night with a 78–47 statement win — but not without the play of the day.

Bruce Branch III

Leading 40–33 at half, Prolific stayed in control until the third quarter’s bizarre moment:
JoJo Mokweza hammered a dunk that went through the net, caught, and bounced back out — appearing as if it didn’t score.

The sequence triggered a prolonged review, where officials ultimately ruled no basket and changed out the net after a 15-minute delay.

The stoppage awakened Prolific — who exploded on a 19–2 run to seize control and put the game away.

Bruce Branch III led the champions with 21 points and 9 rebounds, while Quincy Baker led the opponent with 17 points.

Friday was everything the Grind Session embodies — rising stars, elite national competition, high emotions, and wild moments that become season-long talking points.
