Game 1: Gillion Academy 94, West Oaks 84
In a game loaded with emotion, familiarity, and off-season storylines, Gillion Academy defeated West Oaks Academy 94–84 in the opening matchup of Grind Session Boca Raton.
Many of West Oaks’ former players — and even their head coach — transferred to Gillion this season, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown. The rivalry delivered. The lead swung back and forth early, with Gillion controlling stretches only for West Oaks to repeatedly claw back. But in the final minutes, Gillion held firm and secured the 10-point win.

Mississippi State commit Willie Burnett III put on a show, dropping 31 points to lead all scorers.
He was supported by:

Ponder owned the paint. His 15 blocked shots set the tone defensively and proved to be the game’s defining stat.
Despite Gillion earning the victory, West Oaks won the rebounding battle 50–48, staying competitive throughout the game.

The first women’s matchup of the event was a grind-it-out battle that went down to the final possessions. Academy of Central Florida held on for a 68–64 win over Grind Prep Academy, powered by toughness in the paint and clutch rebounding.

After a slow opening few minutes, Prolific seized control and never looked back, rolling to an 84–57 victory.

Closing out the night, Southeastern Prep Academy delivered a statement win in their first game with their complete roster available, overpowering Mt. Zion Prep Academy 106–77.
