Championship-week energy carried into Wednesday as Day 3 of the all-women’s Grind Session continued at the DME Academy home court. With Thanksgiving break looming and the season gaining momentum, the morning delivered the final two games of the event.
In this edition of the Grind Session Player Spotlight, we learn about DME Academy guard Gigi Battle —recently committed to Indiana Hoosiers— as she reflects on what drew her to Indiana’s program, how her family and high-level competition have shaped her, and how she’s evolving into the two-way player she aspires to be.
The Grind Session’s first domestic showcase of the 2025–26 season brought three days of high-level matchups, breakout performances, and statement wins to Boca Raton, Florida. With elite men’s and women’s programs on the floor—several with complete rosters for the first time—this weekend had the feel of an early-season proving ground.
Pompano Beach FL
After two international stops to open the 2025-26 season, the Grind Session returns to U.S. soil for its first domestic showcase of the year at Highlands Christian Academy in beautiful Pompano Beach, Florida. The three-day event will bring together a powerful field of prep programs—both men’s and women’s—featuring elite prospects, international standouts, and several highly anticipated team debuts.
Grind Session recently announced its men’s and women’s individual award winners and other honorees for the 2024-2025 season. Showcasing the strength and parity of the circuit, 23 different teams earned a place on the various listings and 10 programs saw themselves with at least one individual award winner.

The 2025 Grind Session season concluded with two thrilling championship matchups in Lawrence, Kansas, showcasing the best talent from the Power Conference and Revolution Conference. In an unforgettable night of basketball, history was made on both the men’s and women’s sides.

Royal Crown Pulls Off Stunning Upset in Women’s Championship

In a massive upset, Royal Crown Women’s Basketball from Canada stunned top-seeded DME Academy 56-55 to claim their first-ever Grind Session World Championship. DME Academy entered the contest undefeated, led by 2025 Grind Session Women’s MVP Gigi Battle, and controlled the game through three quarters. However, a relentless defensive effort from Royal Crown in the final frame turned the tide.

The Grind Session Championship weekend kicked off with a thrilling first day in Lawrence, Kansas, as the Revolution Conference (Women) quarterfinals set the stage for an action-packed weekend. With the semi-finals on Saturday and the Power Conference semifinals also taking place, the road to the Grind Session 2024-25 World Championships is heating up. The winners of both conferences will be crowned on Sunday, and Monday will showcase the best of the best in the all-star games featuring top men’s and women’s players from the Grind Session.

The stage is set for an electrifying weekend as the Grind Session's Revolution Conference playoffs take over Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas, from March 21-23. With some of the best prep basketball talent on display, this three-day event will determine who claims the Grind Session Championship.

This past weekend, the Grind Session brought top-tier basketball talent to Atlanta for an electrifying three-day event featuring some of the best prep teams in North America. From thrilling comebacks to dominant individual performances, the competition was intense, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. Here's a recap of the standout games and players from the event.
Louisville KY
The local Louisville basketball fans packed the gym tonight to see the newest commit to coach Pat Kelsey’s team Mikel Brown Jr. play in the Grind Session event in Louisville.  Brown's DME Academy team from Daytona Beach Florida took on West Oaks Academy and beat them 73-63. Brown and his teammate Nathan Kirk each put in 25 points in the victory with Trey Simpson III getting a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

In past seasons, our teams have played in some of the greatest and most unique cities across the U.S., as well as Canada, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico. From November to March over 400 action-packed games will be played. Grind Session is more than just great games: it's an opportunity to prepare for the next chapter of your basketball career.
