The best high school basketball players in the world took center stage on Saturday night at the Nike Hoop Summit. In the end, the Grind Session’s three participating stars in the men’s game – AJ Dybantsa (Utah Prep) Mikel Brown, Jr. (DME Academy), and Ikenna Alozie (Dream City Christian) – lived up to their hype.

Dybantsa and Brown starred for Team USA, while Alozie impressed as a member of the World squad.

Team USA edged out the World team in a thrilling 124–114 overtime victory.

This year’s event saw five Grind Session athletes take the court, representing both the USA and World teams across the mens’ and womens’ games.

Some of the country’s best men’s and women’s high school basketball players are set to battle in Phoenix this weekend (January 31 - February 2) when the Grind Session Duel in the Desert showcase returns to the Valley of the Sun.

The three-day event will feature 25 teams from 12 states, 29 games, and an impressive roster of the nation’s Top 30-rated prospects.

Three Grind Session teams will begin the 2024-25 high school boys basketball campaign as early contenders for the national championship, having recently been ranked in the MaxPreps National Preseason Top 10.

Grind Session is the first-ever winter circuit of elite high school basketball events. In past seasons, our teams have played in some of the greatest and most unique cities across the U.S., as well as Canada, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico. From November to March over 400 action-packed games will be played. Grind Session is more than just great games: it's an opportunity to prepare for the next chapter of your basketball career.
