Player Spotlight Q&A with Nathan Kirk

By: CJ Sells

Q: You’re a graduating senior and recently committed to playing college hoops next year at Iona University, what went into that final decision and what was your recruiting experience like?

A: What went into my decision to committing to Iona was the environment. As soon as I stepped on campus it felt right. I also loved the way Coach Geriot and his staff run things at Iona. The Plan they have for you puts you on a path to do great things. Being given the opportunity to come and compete at the Division 1 level is just great.

Q: What are you going to miss most about DME Academy?

A: What I will miss most about DME Academy are the people I have met. Meeting people from all over the country and learning where they are from, that was just a great experience for me because you never know down the line that you could possibly see them again.

Q: Do you have a favorite Grind Session memory, when you think about the Grind Season how will you remember it?

A: One of my favorite Grind Session memories was winning Under the Radar Player of the Year. I will remember the Grind Session as great competition and great exposure.

Q: How has the Grind prepared you for the next level?

A: The Grind Session has prepared me for the next level by putting you up against some of the best players in the country, while playing with professional rules making the speed of the game and intensity very high.

Q: What are your goals and expectations for next season being a freshman playing Division-1 college basketball?

A: My goals for next season is working to become a starter, I hope to make my team better and also make the game easier for them. Also I plan on expanding my game to become a more all around player.

Q: I know first hand how the men’s team at DME supported the women’s program, at many games cheering on your classmates, what was it like watching them win the National Championship, what was campus like when they got home?

A: It seemed surreal seeing them win it. They talked about the national championship since the beginning of the year, so being able to watch their practices every day and then seeing them win the whole thing was just great. When they got back to campus it’s was great energy, everyone was happy for their success.

Q: Favorite NBA player and team?

A: Favorite player Kyrie Irving, favorite team Dallas/SA Spurs
