TyTy Washington: From Grind Session Champion to Rising NBA Prospect

TyTy Washington Jr., a proud alumnus of AZ Compass Prep and the Grind Session, continues to carve his path toward NBA success with determination and flair. As the floor general for AZ Compass Prep, TyTy led his squad to the Grind Session Championship in his senior season, solidifying his place among the nation’s elite high school prospects. His leadership, playmaking, and clutch performances made him a standout in the Grind Session’s ultra-competitive winter circuit.

Following his high school success, TyTy committed to the University of Kentucky, where he played one electrifying season under Coach John Calipari. His freshman campaign showcased his polished skill set, court vision, and scoring touch—traits that caught the attention of NBA scouts. In the 2022 NBA Draft, TyTy was selected in the first round, achieving a lifelong dream and joining the ranks of Grind Session alumni making their mark at the professional level.

In the 2024–25 season, TyTy played as a two-way player for the Phoenix Suns and their G-League affiliate, the Valley Suns, entering his third year of professional basketball. He appeared in 34 games for the Valley Suns and 16 games for the Phoenix Suns, putting together a breakout G-League season. TyTy averaged 22.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game, while connecting on an impressive 41.4% of his three-point attempts. His signature moment came during the Valley Suns’ first-ever playoff victory, where he delivered a triple-double performance with 40 points, leading his team in dominant fashion.

The Grind Session

The Grind Session is the first-ever winter circuit of elite high school basketball events. In past seasons, our teams have played in some of the greatest and most unique cities across the U.S., as well as Canada, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico. From November to March over 300 action-packed games will be played. The Grind Session is more than just great games: it's an opportunity to prepare for the next chapter of your basketball career.
