Prolific Prep to Battle Columbus High School in Early Season Powerhouse Showdown

Boca Raton Florida

In a rematch of last year’s overtime thriller in Miami, the Grind Session’s Prolific Prep will battle Columbus High School in an early season showdown of national heavyweights. Columbus is ranked No. 1 in SI’s national preseason boys rankings, while Prolific Prep sits just outside the Top 10 at No. 11.

The highly anticipated matchup – which will feature a slew of 5-star and 4-star recruits – will take place on Tuesday, November 19 on the campus of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 PM (Eastern).

“With so much talent on both sides of the court, fans are in for an exciting matchup that promises to be a thrilling battle between two incredibly skilled and determined teams,” said Grind Session co-founder and CEO Scott Waldrup. “The stage is set for a showdown of epic proportions between these powerhouses.”

Currently 4-0 on the season, Prolific Prep is led by Darryn Peterson, the country's consensus No. 3-ranked senior and recent Kansas commit. He’s joined by an impressive list of other 5-star prospects, including fellow senior Nico Bundalo and sophomores Gabe Nesmith and Obinna Ekezie. Prolific Prep’s roster also features Michigan-bound Winters Grady. Junior Seven Spurlock is one to keep an eye on.

Cameron and Cayden Boozer, twin sons of Duke legend and former NBA all-star Carlos Boozer, are the marquee names for Columbus. The 5-star brothers are following their father's footsteps to play basketball for the Blue Devils but are first looking to capture a fourth straight 7A State Championship in Florida and a second consecutive berth in the Chipotle Nationals at the end of the season. 5-star Caleb Gaskins and 4-star Jaxon Richardson bolster the Columbus lineup – both are juniors.

The matchup will also feature two of the best high school basketball coaches in the country in Prolific Prep’s Ryan Bernardi and Columbus’ Andrew Moran.

The meeting between Prolific Prep and Columbus will be the second straight season the two schools will play. Columbus won last year’s overtime thriller, coming back from nine points down in the final minute of the game to defeat Prolific Prep.

General Admission tickets are $20, and courtside seats are $100. Both can be purchased on-line HERE.
