Kamora Moore is a sophomore point guard for the women’s team at Hamilton Heights…she is currently rehabbing a knee injury…I sat down recently with MoMo for a short Q&A
Q: As a sophomore, what has the Grind Session meant for your development both on and off the court, especially competing against elite national talent?
A: The grind session has pushed me to grow faster than expected playing against top notch girls every game showed me the level of intensity I need to play at every possession. Off the court it helped me mature and to stay professional, and lastly represent myself and my team the right way.
Q: What parts of the Grind Session environment—travel, competition level, coaching, or exposure—do you feel have helped you grow the most as a player so far?
A: The competition level and exposure has helped me grow the most. Competing against elite players forces me to not get relaxed, and realizing the exposure I’m getting, college coaches watching from the stands and when the games are streamed pushes me to stay composed and be the best player I can be.
Q: Watching from the sidelines while injured can be challenging. How has being out for the remainder of the season changed your perspective on the game and your role as a teammate?
A: Being injured and not being able to play the game I love was just tough. But it changed how I see the game, watching from the sideline helped me read different levels of defense and gaps to attack. But also making me realize how big a leadership role is and being a great teammate on and off the floor by communicating and encouraging my teammates.
Q: Even while sidelined, how have you stayed mentally engaged and continued to learn during Grind Session games and practices?
A: I stay engaged by watching film paying attention to the small things during the game. I look at other players mistakes and learn from it so I’m prepared for when I return. Mentally I kinda treat as if I’m still playing but just from a different angle.
Q: What’s it like playing for your father?
A: Playing for my dad is definitely fun and challenging he pushes me to a very high standard because he wants the best for me. Sometimes when things happen during the games or practice we can laugh and joke about it because that’s the type of relationship we have
Q: Looking ahead, how motivated are you to return next season, and what goals have you set for yourself once you’re fully healthy again?
A: I’m extremely motivated and very excited to return. This injury just makes me want it more than everyone else. My goals are to come back stronger, smarter, and to improve my overall game. And remembering that God always has a plan for me.
Q: Favorite pizza topping? Favorite WNBA and or NBA player?
A: Favorite pizza topping hot take here I’m gonna say pineapple's my favorite. WNBA player would be Paige buckets and my favorite NBA player currently would have to be Jalen Brunson.
